Thomas Paine's 274TH Birthday Celebration, The Headstrong Evening Club

The Thomas Paine Society, The Headstrong Evening Club's 274TH Thomas Paine Birthday Celebration held at Castle Green, Pasadena, California, January 29, 2011.

The topic for the evening's discussion was "Wikileaks: Freedom of Speech or Treason".

Thomas Paine was played by Ian Ruskin, founder of the Harry Bridges Project and leading role performer in the PBS Special, "From Warf Rats to Lords of the Docks" directed by Haskell Wexler about Harry Bridges' union leadership in the creation of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union.

Ian Ruskin has been awarded a COLA (City of Los Angeles) Fellowship to write his new one-man play about the one truly radical American Founding Father, Thomas Paine, "To Begin the World Over Again:the Life and Times of Thomas Paine". The first full-length public performances will take place in late spring and early summer 2011 in Seattle and Los Angeles respectively.
